WWNMD?
That stands for What Would Nelson Mandela Do. I ask because, following up on today's O'Reilly Is An Asshole update, I decided to read the transcript of Martha Stewart's interview with Larry King. Money quote:
And what I said, and I am so in awe and so -- I love Nelson Mandela so much. I said Nelson Mandela was able to survive 27 years in prison, I could survive five years. I wasn't comparing myself to Nelson Mandela. I am not a Nobel Prize winner. I am -- my -- our situations are -- well, it shouldn't have and it didn't. If you watch the tape. I watched it. I mean, I didn't seem like I was comparing myself to Nelson Mandela in any way. And I really don't want anybody to be confused about that. And Mandela loves Martha back, I'm sure. I guess we can take her at her word that she is not making a direct comparison between her life and Mandela's (although maybe she thinks she deserves a Nobel Peace Prize), but so what? She's obviously comparing Nelson Mandela's 27-year incarceration for his role in the struggle against Apartheid with her reduced sentence for her role in an illegal stock transaction and the subsequent illegal cover up. Like Leona Helmsley, she's going to jail for being a huge bitch. And that's a very good thing, as someone used to say.
