"Readjusted My Power-Glutes"?

I'm a big fan of both Andrew Sullivan and Bill Maher, and have very ambivalent feelings about Noam Chomsky, and didn't see the episode of "Real Time" in question, so I've had literally no idea what to make of this mini-controversy.

Now that I've read the transcript, I have to say that Alan Simpson losing his shit (figuratively) is quite a bit more comical than whatever Sully might have been doing to his own ass (literally).

Anyway, the visual evidence is conclusively wierd and unsightly. I'd have no trouble believing Sullivan's explanation---that he had an itch to relieve [been there--ed.]---if not for the fact that he decided to refer to his own "power-glutes."
