Big F-ing Surprise
Barry Bonds admits to having used steroids; claims he didn't know they were steroids and that they didn't work; his claims belied by his inexplicable mass-gains and changing facial bone structure.
Okay, that last part wasn't included in the lede, but should have been. Can we stop pretending that any of this is news? The fact that sportswriters were able to cocoon themselves into thinking that Bonds' use of steroids was ever even in question is prima facie evidence that sportswriters are inimical to the profession of journalism. If I got to look at Bonds up close, I could tell you exactly what drugs he's on and when he last took them. As could anybody who's spent a reasonable portion of his life in weight rooms.
I see Bonds' testimony as very good for the MLB, because it will force the league to finally(!) confront its own hypocrisy.
And in related news, the earth revolves around the sun.
