O'Reilly Is An Asshole Watch/ Bizarro World Edition
On "The Factor" tonight, O'Reilly and guest Dick Morris denounced the Nixonite anti-Kerry ad campaign (of the Swift Boat Veterans for "Truth"). O'Reilly felt that such attacks had no place in politics (I disagree; if the allegations were true, which they are not in the slightest degree, it would be a good thing for voters to know that); Morris claimed that the ads would not sway a single swing voter, and could only hurt the Bush campaign if they do not specifically denounce the ads before they are inevitably debunked.
What to make of this? A rare bit of decency from O'Reilly. Not bad. But since I learned long ago that the opposite of whatever Dick Morris says is true (seriously, I've never seen any member of the punditry with a worse track record in making predictions, except maybe Katrina vanden Heuvel), I'm not exactly confident that the smear job will be exposed for what it is before Kerry gets Dukakisized.
