So Fucking Close Part II
Well the Springboks lost another nail-biter over the weekend (30-26), at Perth in Australia. I guess my shock prediction of a Boks' victory in the Tri-Nations is pretty much dead in the water (Australia would have to beat New Zealand, and then the Boks would need two blow-out victories at home, which is rather unlikely). I can take some consolation from the fact that both of SA's losses were within the spread so they have at least been the best team to bet on so far.
It was another match that could have gone either way (if Percy Montgomery hadn't missed a sitter of a conversion goal early in the match, South Africa could have won at full-time with a penalty or drop-goal), and it confirms the fact that South Africa is back as a top rugby side. All credit to Jake White. The Springboks are going to win a Tri-Nations series in the next few years; they have youth, talent, physicality, and tons of desire. They just need to become more disciplined.
