Electoral Map Thread

8:23 The networks aren't giving Maine's 4th EV to Kerry yet, but I'm assuming he'll get it given how quickly the state was called. North Carolina just went for Bush...about an hour later than it should have. And Virginia (Virginia!) is still up in the air.

8:29 Every half hour, MSNBC plays the same intro sequence. It's beyond irritating, and it only serves to ratchet up anxiety. If, unlike me, you don't loathe CNN and Fox, you're probably tuning MSNBC out. Worst run network ever.

8:43 Virginia goes to Bush...finally.

9:05 New Mexico and Colorado are too close. Actually, all the battlegrounds are too close.

9:27 So far no changes from 2000. Arkansas and Missouri still too close. Arkansas was 51-49 Bush in the last raw vote tabulation.

9:57 Bad news in Florida. Good news in Ohio.

10:05 Arkansas finally went. Missouri is still too close.

10:13 No proportional assignment of electors in Colorado. Kerry's gonna need to take the whole thing. I'm getting a sinking feeling about Florida. Maybe (please please please please) Miami hasn't reported yet.

10:16 Okay, Missouri went to Bush. I'm just getting a sinking feeling in general.

10:49 Pennsylvania finally goes to Kerry. Whew.

10:54 Looks like the get-out-the-youth-vote efforts failed. Joe Scarborough's sounding like a pretty smart guy.

10:57 Kerry appears to be underperforming in the Cleveland area. Fuck.

11:02 The west coast results are in...and the electoral college just tightened up a hell of a lot, 207-200. Unfortunately, we just blew our load on California. It's a nice thing to have in the pocket, but once it's gone, it's gone. Kerry looks like he's starting to take control of the upper midwest. Without Ohio or Florida, we need New Hampshire, Colorado, and Nevada.

11:05 The GOTV effort in Philadelphia might have steamrolled Arlen Specter.

11:16 Alan Keyes is losing his shit on live TV. Best thing I've seen all night.

11:26 The MSNBC panel is already basically conceding that there probably won't a definitive result tomorrow morning. Ohio seems like its going to turn into a huge legal fight. Florida looks lost. Come on Colorado.

11:42 On CNN, Judy Woodruff is saying that the Kerry campaign is privately conceding Florida, but they're still optimistic about Ohio. Let's hope. Meanwhile, the Califoria numbers should put Kerry on top in the popular vote, no?

11:48 Looks like CBS gave Florida to Bush.

11:53 CBS gave Bush Colorado. Fuck!

12:02 Kerry winning is the gut shot draw now. We need to run the table.

12:05 One of the post-mortems is that my people (the Jews) didn't turn out enough for Kerry in Florida. The post-mortem for the election, if it comes to that, is that people my age didn't vote. Fuck Jewish people my age!
