Apparently, 57% of Republican adults agree with the statement, "God created human beings in their present form." (The percentage is the same for Democrats, so quit gloating.)

However, 65% of Republicans agree with the statement, "God created human beings in their present form within the last ten thousand years." Now, it's easy to get depressed about such a large proportion of our fellow citizens being fucking idiots. [How about this: x is a fucking idiot = df x believes that God created human beings in their present form--ed.]

What's almost as bad, however, is the statistical discrepancy, which is beyond the margin of error. The first claim is logically weaker than the second, while the second entails the first. If the Republicans were rational actors, at least 65% of them would agree with the first statement. Draw your own conclusions.
