British Politics Realigned?
Labour took another big hit in the byelections in Birmingham and Leicester, but victory did not belong to the Tories. Instead Charles Kennedy's Liberal Democrats (who I don't think have been the main opposition party, let alone in control of the premiership, since the days of Lloyd George and Asquith), are eclipsing the Conservatives as Britain's second party.
Part of me is cheering on Michael Howard, the Tory leader, since he could be the first Jewish prime minister since Disraeli, but realistically, it's just not in the cards.
