Dawn 'n Me

This is Dawn Eden's abortive response to my outing of her bigotry:

Being Jewish on both sides (that's Dawn Eden Goldstein to you [F]) and a Christian believer, I...object to the uncalled-for generalization about Christians' imagined views of Jews.

By now I'm quite used to the fact that the Francoists choose simply to ignore any exposition of their biases and flawed methodology, so I won't presume that Dawn Eden Goldstein is conceding anything. Ostriches never do.

I will point out, however, that I never imputed any belief about Jews one way or another to her. What I wrote originally was:

...Dawn actually means every word of it, she really thinks gay people are inferior in fundamental ways, unfit to be parents, undeserving of the full array of civil rights guaranteed to all other citizens, and yet (this is two-fer that characterized traditional anti-semitism) engaged in a cunning and successful plot to undermine the society in which they live. Of course, unlike Jews, it's not quite so easy to treat gays as if they're an alien force. Even Republicans have gay family members. You'd think they'd be a little more compassionately conservative.

I had no idea at the time, nor do I now, considering her conversion, have the slightest clue what Dawn thinks of Jews. To point out that the contemporary instantiation of gay-bashing bears striking similarities to older forms of race-hatred is not to accuse the gay-bashers of that race-hatred; it is to put the onus on the bashers to explain why it's okay to denounce homosexuals in precisely the same terms as older generations denounced other unpopular minorities.

The fact that Dawn's surname, as she points out, is Goldstein, makes her tone-deafness on this point even more odious. Someone who at least once was a Jew should know better than to allege that a minority that has for centuries been persecuted and pushed to the margins of society is behind some sort of nefarious conspiracy to...well it's unclear exactly what; I'm not totally sure even Dawn believes they're really out to create test tube babies with undifferentiated parental units.
