Double Whammy

Just a week after the BLS estimated a paltry 32,000 new jobs created in July, the CBO publishes a study demonstrating conclusively that the middle class tax burden has increased under President Bush. The Republicans are trying to manipulate the figures, and thus the public relations on the issue, by pretending that payroll taxes shouldn't count as taxes against income---that's a standard tactic for them. But all Kerry has to do to neutralize it is to say "My opponent has increased the burden of taxation on middle-class families" in every stump speech. Anybody want to bet that he'll stretch that single sentence into a mangled, incomprehensible soliloquy?
