Last night, in order to confirm for my own edification what I wrote here, I watched both Dennis Miller's and Bill Maher's shows. And yeah, it was exactly like I said. Barely one of Maher's jokes or cutting observations fell flat. Not one of Miller's, as far as I could tell, came even remotely close to qualifying as "funny" or "insightful."
