Duly Noted
Eric Alterman's description of a joint tribute to John Kenneth Galbraith and Arthure Schlesinger:
It was really a marvelous and moving night. After vanden Heuval thanked approximately a zillion people, we heard terrific speeches from Gailbraith, Roosevelt and Schlesinger children (and grandchildren), Ted Sorensen, Alan Brinkley, George McGovern, Bill Moyers, Arthur himself and believe it or not, Henry Kissinger. The room was remarkably silent for the latter talk and applauded quite generously, particularly given the fact that a healthy number of people in the room would answer “of course” to the “war criminal” question. (Next time you hear right-wingers complain of the incivility of liberals, remind them of this evening.)Count me among the "of course" crowd.
