Let Them Eat Cake

Aside from the bin Laden gaffe, Matt Yglesias highlights what was probably the worst moment of the night for Bush from a "must win Ohio" strategy: his claim that the problem of outsourcing could be solved through education. That would have been bad enough on its own. But Bush compounded the situation by telling rust-belters, in effect, that if their jobs get shipped to India, the local community college is willing to retrain them. I'm sure the Reagan Democrats loved that.
